Japanese noodle bowls or Ramen Bowls
In addition to rice bowls and donburi bowls, larger bowls are used in Japan for Japanese noodle soup. The best known variety is probably ramen, which originates in China and differs from soba and udon in the type of noodles. In Tokyo alone, there are reportedly more than 5,000 ramen restaurants specializing in the production and sale of Japanese noodle soup. Many stores have their own recipe, and as with the Donburi, there are plenty of variations that vary by season or region.
Yokohama even has a museum for ramen, which you should definitely visit if you have a taste for Japanese noodle soup. We have many different pasta bowls that are perfect for cooking this specialty. An important distinguishing feature is the broth or soup in which the noodles are served. Basically these are Shoyu-Ramen (based on soy sauce), Miso-Ramen (based on miso paste), Shio-Ramen (based on a rather salty Dashi fish stock) and Tonkotsu-Ramen (based on a pork stock made by the Bones cooking). Pork, tofu, eggs and spring onions are especially popular as ingredients.
